Sponge gourd: ToLCNDV resistant line DSG-6

Background:
Tomato Leaf Curl New Delhi Virus (ToLCNDV: genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae), the causal virus of tomato leaf curl has been reported to be associated with sponge gourd and causing a yield loss upto100 % in north Indian plains during kharif season under epidemic condition. Technology Details:
DSG-6 is completely resistant to Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus, during rainy season which is conducive for white fly multiplication and the spread of disease. Resistance is found to be governed by single dominant gene. Therefore, this line can be successfully utilized by the licensee for the development of high yielding sponge gourd varieties/F1 hybrids with desirable quality and resistant to ToLCNDV.
